Citibank and the Citigroup Foundation Announces $1.9 Million in Charitable Contributions to DFW Organizations

(Dallas, TX) Citibank and the Citigroup Foundation announced today $1.9 million in charitable contributions for 2006 to non-profit organizations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The funding is the result of each organization’s demonstrated success in one of three areas: financial education, educating the next generation and/or building communities and entrepreneurs.

“We are proud to partner with these outstanding community organizations,” said Cliff Whisenhunt, Citibank DFW Market Manager. “We’re not just partners, we’re neighbors. Citigroup, through its employees and its Foundation, is committed to giving back to the communities where we work and live. We strive every day to help create social and economic opportunity—opportunity that will strengthen the Metroplex for years to come.”

Among the non-profit organizations that benefited from Citigroup Foundation grants were Foundation for Community Empowerment, Frazier Courts Neighborhood Development Strategy, Vecinos Unidos, Tom Joyner Association and United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. In addition, the foundation is also supporting several statewide initiatives with the National Theater Center for Children, ACCION Texas and the Texas Boys and Girls Club Foundation.

“We congratulate the recipients of these grants and thank them for the hard work and dedication to our community,” said John Dienes, Citibank Regional President. “This is a way to honor them for the good work they are doing in our neighborhoods and we encourage them to continue in faithful service.”

In 2006, the Citigroup Foundation awarded $3.1 million in grants and Citigroup awarded $1 million in sponsorships to charitable and non-profit organizations in communities across Texas to support financial education, general education, child development, and community development programs. Through Citigroup’s Global Community Day, 40,000 employees volunteered in over 800 projects in more than 450 cities across 100 countries.
