City of Dallas Labor Day/Cesar Chavez Holiday Closings, Schedules
The City of Dallas adopted the Cesar Chavez Day in May of 2001 to be observed the first Monday of September to coincide with Labor Day. All City of Dallas offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, in observance of the Labor Day/Cesar Chavez holiday. The J. Erik Jonsson Central Library and all branch libraries will be closed. City of Dallas recreation centers will be closed on Monday, September 4
Residential garbage service will be provided, however the Department of Sanitation Services administrative offices will be closed.
Other city departments and services will operate as follows:
The Dallas Police Department will operate on a normal schedule; however administrative offices will be closed.
Dallas Fire-Rescue will operate on a normal schedule.
The 911 and 311 Communications Center will operate on a normal schedule.
Animal Control Shelters will be closed to the public. Animal control officers will respond to calls for service through 311.
Lew Sterrett Justice Center, 111 W. Commerce will be open for customer service for Class C misdemeanor citations. The facility operates 24 hours/7days a week including holidays.
