
City’s revised Smoking Ordinance takes effect from April 10! …Violators of the ordinance will face fines of $200 per offense
DALLAS – Changes to the City’s smoking ordinance, which include expanding a-reas where smoking is not a-llowed and more restrictions on businesses, go into effect from April 10. Violators of the ordinance are subject to a $200 fine for each offense.
The Dallas City council approved an amendment revising the 2003 Smoking Ordinance on Dec. 10, 2008. The revisions expand areas where smoking is not allowed and holds businesses more accountable to adhering to the ordinance by maintaining smoke-free environments. Businesses are also required to remove ashtrays from non-smoking areas and provide designated signage.
Notices of violation and/or citations may be issued to anyone found to be violating the ordinance including persons smoking in an area where smoking is prohibited and the owner, operator or person in control of an area where smoking is prohibited.
