Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Secures Five-Year Sponsorship with Dallas-Fort Worth Lexus Dealer Association
Expansive Lexus Sponsorship Will Be One of Center’s Largest
DALLAS – The Dallas Center for the Performing Arts announced this week that it partnered with the Dallas-Fort Worth Lexus Dealer Association (Lexus), a well-respected dealer group for America’s leading luxury automotive company. The comprehensive five-year Lexus sponsorship, one of the Center’s first major corporate sponsors and ultimately one of the largest Center sponsorships, will benefit multiple areas of the Center’s operations. Lexus will be the Title Sponsor for the Center’s Broadway Series; “Official Vehicle” of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts and its five resident companies; “Official Valet Sponsor” of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts; and Lexus will own the Naming Rights to the Center’s two underground parking garages.
Opening in October 2009, the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts is a new multi-venue arts and entertainment center that will provide state-of-the-art performance spaces for Dallas ’ most distinguished performing arts organizations, as well as its own programming which includes the Lexus Broadway series, the Brinker International Forum, concerts, family programming and more.
“We are honored Lexus has committed to this far-reaching sponsorship that will benefit North Texas in so many ways,” said Howard Hallam, chair of the Board of Directors of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts. “To have a partner like Lexus well in advance of the Center’s opening exemplifies their dedication to community. It is a testament to the quality of the programs that will be presented on the Center’s stages. We look forward to working together.”
Ken Schnitzer, Dallas Center for the Performing Arts board member and chairman of Park Place Dealerships and Carl Sewell, president and CEO of Sewell Automotive Companies and a member of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts President’s Advisory Council, were instrumental in bringing together Lexus and the Center. “Ken and Carl recognized the enormous benefits to the Center of having a partner like Lexus and the impact it would have on North Texas ,” said Mr. Hallam. “They demonstrated great civic leadership in securing this sponsorship.”
“Lexus is dedicated to sponsoring world-class events and organizations, and the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts provides an ideal platform to do so right here in Dallas,” said D’Anne Duclos, General Manager, Lexus Southern Area Office. “The Dallas-Fort Worth Lexus dealers’ passionate commitment to the community is admirable and we’re proud to support this endeavor along with them.”
Lexus Broadway Series
The Dallas Center for the Performing Arts will present the annual Lexus Broadway series in the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House. The Center has engaged Shorenstein Hays Nederlander (SHN) as a consultant for the new series. Innovative leaders in the theatre industry, SHN has presented the world premieres of Mamma Mia, La Boheme, Wicked, White Christmas, Martin Short’s Fame Becomes Me and A Chorus Line and launched the national tours for Proof, Avenue Q, Contact, The Light in the Piazza and Jersey Boys. The Lexus Broadway series will feature shows ranging from blockbuster musicals to world premieres, with the opening 2009-2010 season to be announced later this year.
“We are delighted the Dallas-Fort Worth Lexus Dealer Association will be the Title Sponsor of the Center’s Broadway series and a leading corporate sponsor for the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts. Lexus believes this is a vitalizing partnership that brings together two organizations devoted to providing unparalleled experiences for their patrons” said Mr. Schnitzer. “With less than 18 months until the Center opens, we hope Lexus’ commitment to bring this Broadway series to Dallas increases anticipation of the Center’s debut.”
The designation “Official Vehicle of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts” extends to an innovative alliance with the Center’s resident companies— The Dallas Opera, Dallas Theater Center, Texas Ballet Theater, Dallas Black Dance Theatre and Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico — all of which will classify Lexus as “Official Vehicle” and exclusive automotive partner. “The Dallas-Fort Worth Lexus Dealer Association is proud to announce this relationship with the Center and its resident companies. The Center, along with the resident companies, shares a commitment to quality that aligns with the Lexus brand and will provide first-class experiences to the Dallas community,” said Carl Sewell. “Our hope is that this sponsorship provides a new level of support to the resident companies, resulting in a greater overall impact on Dallas arts organizations.”
The sponsorship also gives Lexus naming rights to the Center’s two underground parking garages, which will together accommodate more than 850 cars. Center patrons utilizing these garages who drive Lexus vehicles will have the opportunity to park in a premier, designated area reserved for Lexus drivers. Lexus is also designated as “Official Valet Sponsor of the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts”, with branding opportunities and potential benefits for Lexus drivers during special Center events.
