Dallas ISD student travels with Dallas Theater Center to receive award
Dallas ISD student Emily Sanchez accompanied Dallas Theater Center representatives last month as they traveled to Washington, D.C. to accept the National Arts Humanities Youth Program Award for DTC’s Project Discovery. The award is provided by the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities and its cultural partners- The National Endowment for the Arts, The National Endowment for the Humanities, and The Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Sanchez, a student at W.H. Adamson High School, wrote an essay on the Project Discovery program that gives Adamson students the chance to attend productions and workshops conducted by the Dallas Theater Center each year. The essay was included in the application for the award.
First Lady Michelle Obama presented the award. For more information about the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program awards, visit http://www.nahyp.org/. To read more about the Dallas Theater Center’s Project Discovery, visit https://www.facebook.com/DTCProjectDiscovery).
