Dallas’ smoking ordinance
The Dallas City Council is scheduled to resume its ongoing debate over whether to expand its municipal smoking ordinance to additional venues, most notably bars and billiard halls.
After three sometimes contentious meetings before an ad hoc committee of council members led by District 2 council member Pauline Medrano, this will mark the first time the full council conducted a hearing on the issue.
Both opponents and supporters of a smoking ordinance expansion are already at City Hall in force, just as they were at previous meetings. The council will give members of both sides an opportunity to speak — probably 15 to 20 minutes for each — then delve into a variety of smoking ban options before them.
We’ll be live blogging all the while.
