DFW Sports Mix by Don Arnet

In sports, its all about opportunities. For the Dallas Cowboys the door was opened for them to make a move. In week six of the NFL, the Eagles, Redskins, and the Giants lost on the Cowboys bye week. Bigger question, how well the Pokes play against an up and coming Atlanta Falcons team who was 4-1. Well after giving up a first quarter touchdown, the Cowboys start to get going being down 7-3. Miles Austin continues to make noise with a 59 yard touchdown catch from Tony Romo putting the Cowboys on top 10-7.

Opportunities somehow return to people who looks like they let it slip away. Wide receiver Patrick Crayton lost his starting job to Miles Austin a few days before the game. His door opened with the touchdown pass from Romo before the half to make the score 17-7 Cowboys. The Cowboys signed Allan Rossum as the return specialist. But his day was cut short on his first return, pulling a hamstring early in the game. Crayton took over the duties, and he contributed on a 73 yard punt return for a touchdown. All adding to a 37-21 Cowboys win.

This win does a lot for the Pokes, who go 4-2. And are in a much better position now that what they could have been. Did this win send a statement to the rest of the NFL? Not really. But, they can make a bigger statement by rattling off a few wins in November, and in December. Bigger games lie ahead for the Pokes, we will see how good they really are.
