Breaks, and luck plays a role in the quest for the World Cup. You can ask the USA Soccer team about that. And they have felt the good and the bad so far. The good, down 1-0, Clint Mathis kick was set for a routine stop by England goalie Robert Green. But Green has hands of stone as the ball clanks off his hands and into the net. US gets a 1-1 tie.
The bad, US rallied to tie Slovenia 2-2. They got the goal to lead late in the game, but Maurice Edu’s goal was taken away from a referee’s bad call. This game worked like a loss, a win they could have had.
But it’s these two games that showed that team USA has a team that can play with the world’s best. If they don’t win the cup, they will earn respectibility from the world’s soccer experts. Their skill, along with some luck, could keep them playing deep in the tournament.

Okay, the 7th game of the NBA finals was not pretty to watch, but it will give coaches some material to use on how to play defense. The 83-79 Lakers win that secured a NBA title was ugly ball. But it showed on a bad night, Kobe Bryant comes through. A big 4th quarter late was the difference. Now the real fun begins in the NBA. The draft is coming up, and the Free Agent sweepstakes begins. Which player will move? Lots of talk on where they will go. And Lakers coach Phil Jackson has a decision on whether he will coach another season? Lots of questions about the NBA. July 1st well let us know the answers.
