DFW Sports MIX by Don Arnet
The first week of college football, and I do get super enthused when I typed that. We been waiting months for the action to return. And here in the DFW, walking around and seeing the fans from Oklahoma and Utah cheering for BYU, you know something big was going to happen when they battled at the new Cowboys Stadium in front of a sell out crowd and and ESPN audience. But no one expected Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford to go down with a injury to keep him out of the game. That changed the complexion of the game completely, as the BYU defense kept the game in front of them. In the 4th quarter, BYU seized their moment, as Max Hall operated a 80 yard MVP drive, capped off by a 7 yard touchdown pass to McKay Jacobson to put the Cougars in front 14-13. OU had a chance to steal the game at the end, when Tress Way attempted a 54 yard fieldgoal for the win. But his kick went left and short, and BYU sends early shockwaves in the College Football world with at 14-13 win. Eventhough there were more Sooner fans than BYU fans making the trip to Arlington, the Coogars made their mark, and the Mountain West Conference should be taken serious now, take note BCS.
