DFW SPORTS MIX by Don Arnick
Been a while since we talked about college football. With the BCS polls officailly kicked in, there is a trend that has been established. No one wants to be number 1. Oklahoma was number one for a short bit. A trip to Missouri took care of that. And in the Big 12, things are unpredictable as we get deep in the season. I mentioned Missouri, who were rolling along going into a game with Nebraska. Guess what, the Cornhuskers knocked off Mizzu. The Huskers has their bags packed for the Big 10 come next season, is looking to leave the Big 12 with a bang.
Two big suprises are going on in the Big 12 South. Can someone figure out the Texas Longhorns. They go into Nebraska and beat the Huskers, but cant beat Iowa State at home. Last week might have been the big blow as the Baylor Bears go into Austin and shock the Horns 30-22. The first victory for the Bears in Austin since 1991. Yes, the Bears are for real, and with quarterback Robert Griffin III leading the way, the Bears are on top of the Big 12 South. Theyre already bowl eligible, but Coach Art Briles has his team hungry for more.
TCU is number 3 in the BCS poll, with a big game with number 5 Utah in Fort Worth, this game is key for the Horned Frogs who want to get back in the BCS bowl game and right the wrong from last years loss to Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl. By the way, Boise State is mad for being passed up in the recent BCS poll.
So there you have it. With one more month of college football left in the regular season, lots to be settled. And lots of suprises are ahead.
