Question to the NBA, why did it take 24 years to bring the All Star Game to North Texas? Yes, it has been a good long while since the basketball world decended on Dallas-Ft Worth. Despite the record snow hitting the area, that did not stop sports fans to get wrapped up into hoops fever. The jam session was absolutely fun, giving hoop fans a chance to be involved and interactive. Players had appearances to meet and greet their fans everywhere, even the company Under Armour used the NBA all star platform to announce a new basketball shoe. And Brandon Jennings from Milwaukee is the endorsed player to wear the new high top.

All Star Saturday gave fans a chance to check out their faves at they showcased their individual skills. The three point shoutout, skills competition, and the slam dunk contest were the cornerstones of an Saturday night that was electric. The front row of the American Airlines

Center was like being at a Lakers. Everyone from P Diddy, Mary j Blige, Jamie Foxx, Spike Lee, and others were witnesses as Steve Nash one the skills competition, Paul Pierce winner of the 3 point shoot out, and Nate Robinson won the slam dunk competition. Completeing a star studded All Star Saturday night.

And there was the game. Over 108,000 were on hand to see the Western Conferece overcome a big deposit, draw even with the East, only to have the Eastern Conference survive with a 141-139 win. The hometown host, Dirk Nowitzki, had a good showing with 22 points. But it was the heroics of Dwayne Wade that stole the show and the game. His 28 point performance was MVP worthy, which he won the MVP. Carmello Anthony had a chacnce to win it at the end, but his 3 point shot was missed. The game was like the weekend, very memorable.

Word from the NBA is that Cowboys Stadium might return soon with another all star game. Tney will be on a rotation with other cities, but they are on the list It would be great to get it back soon. After all, we don’t want to wait another 24 years to get another big hoops weekend.

During the weekend, the Dallas Mavericks announced a trade, Josh Howard is gone to Washington, along with Drew Gooden and Quinton Ross. The Mavs get Caron Butler, the main guy in the trade, along with Brendan Haywood, and DeShawn Stephenson. The Mavericks were a team struggling. When your last wins were against Golden State, that tells you something is wrong. And owner Mark Cuban pull the trigger on the trade, that suppose to wake up the Mavs. The post season is not that far away. Time for the Mavs to make a playoff run.
