Four Dallas area students at North Hills Preparatory Charter School earn Commended status in National Merit Scholarship Program

Four students of North Hills Preparatory, a campus under the auspices of Uplift Education, a non profit charter school management organization, earned Commended status in the recently completed 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program, according to North Hills Senior Director Cheryl Huisman. Left to right, Justin Hassan, Krishna Suri, Huisman, Jacob Abraham, and Lasya Challa earned the honor by placing among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2009 competition. Although they will not continue in the 2009 competition for National Merit Scholarships, the students attained Commended status by taking the 2007 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. North Hills Preparatory serves over 1,200 students in grades K – 12 from a dozen different school districts in the Dallas area.
