RICHARDSON, Texas — JJ Pearce High School’s award-winning theater department proudly presents West Side Story, an American musical about two rival gangs, the Jets and the Sharks. Set in New York during the 1950’s West Side Story is often described as a contemporary story inspired by Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.” With the award winning music by Leonard Bernstein and Lyrics by Steven Sondheim it’s easy to see why West Side Story is always a favorite.
“West Side Story is the classic forbidden love story,” said Heather Biddle, JJ Pearce Theater Director. “I continue to be amazed at the amount of talented students Pearce has each year,” JJ Pearce’s all student orchestra will play the songs most people know by heart such as, “I Feel Pretty,” “Tonight,” “America,” and “Cool.”
