Mexican American Democrats Present VOTA! 2014 – Community Fair to promote Latino Voter Outreach

The Mexican American Democrats – CAUSA Chapter of Dallas County are presenting VOTA! 2014 Latino Voter Outreach Program to promote voter registration, voter education, and GOTV (get out to vote). The goal of VOTA 2014 is to increase Latino voter participation and increase voter turnout. The Community Fair will be held on January 11 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Los Lupes Restaurant located at 1400 Riverfront Drive in Dallas.

The Mexican American Democrats of Texas is a state-wide organization that was established in 1975 with many chapters throughout the state. The purpose is to seek full representation of Mexican Americans at all levels and in all activities of the Democratic Party. This shall include, but not be limited to, participating in the delegate selection and committee processes at all levels of the Democratic Party conventions and organizations; selecting, screening, supporting, and endorsing Democratic candidates; taking appropriate public stands on issues relevant to our communities; and proposing, supporting, and, when necessary, opposing legislation relevant to the Mexican American community.
CAUSA is the local Dallas Chapter that is presenting VOTA! 2014. The Community Fair is the first activity of the year. The Community Fair will include a candidate meet and greet, exhibitor booths – including a voter registration booth, voter information, a raffle (to registered voters or those that register on-site), music and entertainment. There is no admission to attend.
Sylvana Alonzo, CAUSA Chairwoman invites the community to attend the Community Fair. Ms. Alonzo says, “MAD is committed to promoting the Latino vote and VOTA! 2014 is our way of making sure our community gets an opportunity to talk to the candidates in person, get informed and registered so that they can exercise one of the most valued rights – the right to vote.”
