Well this came out of the blue. We were not thinking about this one. But it happened. Texas Rangers made a signifigant player move. Ian Kinsler is gone to Detroit for Prince Fielder. I don’t know why Prince is coming to Texas, or any news from Detroit that he was trade bait. But Fielder for Kinsler makes sense. Rangers need power to replace Nelson Cruz, and Prince will provide that. And he is an imposing figure at the plate, pitchers have been known to tremble when he is up there. Kinsler might have lost a step as the Rangers lead off man, which is a reason that Juriskon Profar is going to slip into the lead off position. You have to love this trade, but Kinsler has been a fan favorite around here for years. We all going to miss him. General Manager Jon Daniels needed a major player move to establish that he can do things like this without Nolan Ryan. And he did, now get us a veteran reliver to replace Joe Nathan.
The BCS had a shake up week…finally. The rankings got shook up as Oregon got beat by their home state rivals Oregon State. The Ducks are ranked number 13. While Baylor’s BCS dream got crashed in Stillwater. A stunning loss to Oklahoma State knocks Baylor to 9th. The three teams that matter in the BCS is number one Alabama, followed by Florida State and Ohio State. Speaking of crashed, what little chance Johnny Manzeil had of winning the Heisman was buried in the Louisiana Swamp, as LSU crushed Texas A&M. No back to back Heismans for Johnny Football.
