Viva Dallas! Show Cases Hispanic Enterprise with family fun and free services

DALLAS – The Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GDHCC), one of the largest and most prestigious chambers in the nation, kicked off today (10:30am) the annual VIVA Dallas! Expo during a press conference at the Latino Cultural Center (2900 Live Oak). The highly anticipated event, presented by Bank of America, is the GDHCC’s annual Hispanic business showcase, which attracted more than 18,000 attendees in 2005.

“Viva means live, and for two days, the citizens of Dallas will live with more fun, family food and free services than they can imagine,” said CiCi Rojas, president and CEO, GDHCC. “The Greater Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is proud to host VIVA Dallas! and highlight they city’s Hispanic flavor through the local businesses, corporations and institutions dedicated to our community.”

VIVA Dallas! will be held Aug. 12 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Event admission and parking are completely free. VIVA Dallas will be an amazing showcase of everything from free give-a-ways to live cooking shows to health screenings and fun activities for the children. Highlights include:

Community Health and Fitness Pavilion offered by the UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas will be one of several health providers The Home Depot will host a raffle at the conclusion of VIVA Dallas, where individual appliances of the Home Depot VIVA Dallas Kitchen will be won by attendees The Food Pavilion, hosted by the Latin Restaurant Alliance will feature incredible food from all regions of Latin America.

UT Southwestern is offering free mammograms to women 35 years and older. The total process, including paperwork and the mammogram, takes about 20 minutes. To pre-register for the mammograms contact 214-648-7421 or 214-648-7420 for Spanish speakers.
