“Carnaval de Salud: Goza la Vida”

A family friendly carnival event for Hispanic families to learn more about healthy living and cancer. There will be carnival activities (game booths, prizes, face painting, refreshments) as well as a presentation on cancer for the adults while the kids enjoy a program about healthy living.

BACKGROUND: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society will be hosting a health fair, Carnaval de Salud: Goza la Vida on July 15, 2006. We would like to help make healthcare more easily accessible for the Hispanic community. The carnival will include fun, family friendly activities while providing health information for the whole family. The adults will be able to listen to a cancer awareness presentation while the kids enjoy learning about healthy living. Some of the different organizations participating include the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, Gilda’s Club, Parkland Hospital, the Hispanic Nurse Association, All Smiles Dental Center, the Calumet Community Center, Bank of America, Zero Pains Clinic and the Public Health and Environmental Services of the City of Irving.
