Dallas ISD awards scholarships to 59 graduating seniors
More than 100 Dallas ISD middle school students took part in the very first Dallas Wind Symphony summer “band camp,” held May 29-June 1 at Mountain View College. During the four-day institute for middle school musicians, the students learned tone production, technique development, pitch, and rhythm alongside musicians with the Dallas Wind Symphony. Divided into two bands, the students came together on June 1 for a grand concert for family, friends, and the public in the main performance hall at Mountain View College. The week’s activities included master classes and full band rehearsals. In addition to music training, the students received free camp T-shirts and a Dallas Wind Symphony CD. Volunteers helping with band camp included a number of Dallas ISD band directors.
