Direct Energy named Official Electricity Provider of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Stadium

The Agreement includes electric supply and services, and marketing and advertising activities

DALLAS – Direct Energy and the Dallas Cowboys announced today an agreement that designates Direct Energy as the “Official Electricity Provider” of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Stadium. The agreement, the first energy partnership for the Dallas Cowboys, includes electric supply and services, and marketing and advertising activities.

Direct Energy has signed a four-year Commercial Electricity Services Agreement with the Dallas Cowboys. In addition to supplying electricity to select Cowboys facilities, Direct Energy will also provide energy services that are expected to significantly reduce energy demand. Direct Energy will install certain energy retrofit and energy systems control equipment, such as lighting and HVAC control upgrades at the Cowboys’ corporate and practice facilities.

Direct Energy will also provide ongoing technical services that will continue to enhance energy efficiency at the facilities. The energy projects and ongoing services are expected to provide a projected consumption reduction of up to 20 percent annually.

“The Dallas Cowboys are synonymous with energy, from their loyal fans to their renowned owner and team, and we’re proud to be associated with such a legendary franchise,” said Phil Tonge, president of Direct Energy Texas Operations. “It will be a pleasure to work with the team because they share our mission of building partnerships that benefit not only strategic business goals but the greater community as well.”

The four-year agreement will include an extensive co-marketing and promotions plan, benefiting Direct Energy customers and Dallas Cowboys fans, as well as the community. The Direct Energy brand will be featured at select Dallas Cowboys venues and through comprehensive print, radio, Web and television campaigns.

“We are looking forward to Direct Energy joining the Cowboys team and providing an electrifying start to the 2005 football season,” said Jerry Jones, owner and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys.
