Papershell pecans have always been the traditional choice for holiday recipes.

Central Market is taking holiday cooking and eating to a heightened level of home-grown flavor with an array of pecan varieties from the historic orchards of Dos Rios Ranch. No one in Texas has the assortment of fresh pecans that Central Market has prepared for customers for Holiday 2006.

Central Market Produce Director Joe Sandro is available for interviews to discuss this wonderful offering.

Dos Rios Ranch sits just outside Gonzales , Texas , site of the first battle of the Texas Revolution.

The 448-acre ranch is situated at the confluence of the Guadalupe and San Marcos rivers. Most of the trees, which produce Kiowa, Choctaw and sweeter-flavored Desirable pecans, are more than 75 years old. Pecans from the 2006 will be shipped to Central Market throughout the Holiday 2006 cooking season.
